Privacy notice

socops.org is a neutral, public-good, non-commercial site stewarded by the READS Foundation. We keep the information we collect to the minimum needed to run the public review of the standard.

What we collect

Only what you choose to submit through the forms on this site: your email if you join the mailing list; the section and comment if you send feedback; the invite code or email if you request draft access; and your name, work email, role, and company if you download the draft. When you download, we also record the approximate country and browser type of the request, and a one-time anti-bot token. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics.

How we use it

To operate the public review of the standard — to contact you about validation, review windows, and versions, and to understand who is reviewing the draft. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we keep it separate from any commercial work.

Where it is stored

Submissions are recorded in the READS Foundation’s Google Workspace (Google Sheets and Drive), with access limited to the people who run the review. We rely on a small set of processors purely to operate the site: Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare Turnstile (bot protection), Google (Workspace), and Stripe (donations). Stripe handles all payment details directly — we never see or store card information.

Cookies and your browser

The site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The only thing it stores in your browser is your chosen theme and light/dark preference, kept locally so the site remembers it on your next visit.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to remove it, at any time. Email info@socops.org and we will take care of it.
